CLUB HISTORY
11 Nov 2010

The club was formed in 1993 as AFC Railway and entered the LEP Sunday League Division 6 for the 1993/94 season, winning the title at the first attempt. Before the end of the decade, the club had tasted further success after finishing as Division 3 runners up to St Jude’s in 1995/96, and then the following season capturing the Division 2 title. In 1998/99 the club won their first knock-out competition beating New Meadow Street Labour Club in the final of the Presidents Cup.
In 2000/01, the club finished as runners up in Division 1 to Acregate Lane Labour Club earning them promotion to the Premier Division for the first time in the clubs history. After a season’s consolidation in the top flight, the club underwent a change in 2002, to comply with the Leagues requirement for Sunday clubs to move away from using the names of Public Houses. AFC Railway therefore adopted the new title of AFC Lostock Hall.
In our first season under the new name, 2002/03, we finished as runners up in both the league and Challenge Cup, losing out to Arkwrights on both fronts. AFC Lostock Hall finished runners up again in 2006/07 behind champions Ingol Rangers, but were victorious in the Challenge Cup beating Station 4-0 in the Final. The following season 2007/08 saw the club win the Premier Division title for the first time, losing just 1 league match to finish 10 points clear of runners up Acregate Lane LC. In addition to the Championship win, AFC Lostock Hall also added their name to the History Books by lifting the prestigious Lancashire Sunday Trophy, when despite trailing 0-3 at half time in the Final, the club staged a tremendous fightback, to beat Success To The Plough (Rochdale) 4-3. By the end of the 2008/09 season the club had claimed another Premier League title, another Challenge Cup, but fell at the Semi Final stage of the Lancashire Sunday Trophy to Littleborough.
Last year, 2009/10, was to be the greatest year in AFC Lostock Halls history by lifting all 3 trophies – Premier Division, Challenge Cup, and Lancashire Sunday Trophy. The club lost just 1 game in all competitions throughout the season, beating Tarleton Corinthians 2-0 in the Challenge Cup Final and Quilligans (Blackpool) 4-0 in the Lancashire Sunday Trophy. To win a treble at any level in football is an unbelievable achievement for everyone involved with the club. Well done to all. Hopefully we can repeat it this season…..
